•When Holiness Is Hated: Living & Wailing Through the Great Reversal•

Originally, I meant to title this post simply ‘Living Through the Great Reversal’ — but somehow, my phone changed ‘living’ to ‘wailing.’ It felt like an error at first… but now I wonder if it was a divine whisper. Because maybe we’re doing both. So I decided to include both in the title…

There’s a grief that runs deep when you live in a world that no longer values what God calls holy. Not long ago, our society at least pretended to uphold a standard of morality — even if only in name. There was still a cultural expectation of modesty, decency, family, truth. But now, it seems the moral compass has not just spun out… it’s been smashed and replaced with whatever feels good in the moment. The result? Holiness is not just ignored. It’s not just mocked. It’s hated.

The Great Reversal:

We are living through what can only be described as a great reversal — where truth is treated like hate, and sin is treated like virtue. Everything God once called shameful is now celebrated. Everything He called good is now offensive. And those who cling to His Word are branded as intolerant, outdated, or even dangerous. The lines have not just been blurred. They’ve been reversed. Purity is shamed. Modesty is ridiculed. Virginity is mocked. Waiting for marriage is laughed at. Speaking the truth in love is called judgmental. Upholding biblical standards is seen as oppression. And in all this, the righteous weep. Not because we’ve lost our grip on truth — but because the world has.

Wailing Through It

That’s where the “accidental” title change struck me so deeply.
I didn’t mean to write “wailing through the Great Reversal” — but maybe the Spirit was saying to me, “Yes, you’re living through it. But are you not wailing through it also?”

Because it hurts to watch the world spiral. It hurts to see children taught that sin is normal. It hurts to watch God’s design — for gender, marriage, intimacy — be twisted and repackaged as “freedom.” It hurts to live in a generation where women are told they have to sleep with men to be valued, and where men are told that self-control is weakness. And it hurts even more when those who stand for holiness are the ones being punished. We’ve traded God’s boundaries for man’s rebellion, and we dare to call it progress.

The Bitter and the Sweet

But in the middle of all this darkness, there’s a strange kind of hope — a bittersweet ache that reminds me: This means Jesus is coming.

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self…” ~2 Timothy 3:1–2

We were told this would happen. And so, even as we grieve… we watch. Even as we mourn… we hold fast. Even as we wail… we wait.

Until He Comes

Until that trumpet sounds, we will keep standing. Keep clinging to His Word. Keep being lights in a world that prefers the dark. We’ll live through this reversal. We’ll wail through it. We’ll pray through it. We’ll love through it. Because the world may hate holiness — but we know that He is coming to set everything right again.

“Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” ~ Revelation 22:20

4 and the LORD said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”
