•From Fiction to Fulfillment: How 1984 Mirrors Bible Prophecy in Our Generation•

Scripture Focus: 2 Thessalonians 2:10–11 “…because they refused to love the truth and so be saved, God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false…”

The Warning in Fiction

When George Orwell published 1984, it was meant as a cautionary tale — a grim picture of a dystopian society under regime rule and total surveillance, where history is rewritten, and “Newspeak” replaces the language of freedom with the language of control. The novel’s fictional government understood a very dangerous truth: if you control the words, you control the thoughts, and you then control the people.

Most people close the book, shiver at the thought, thankful for the “free world we live in”, and move on, going about their day with barely another thought about the world within the pages of 1984. But what if 1984 wasn’t just a form of escapism like every other fictional tale? What if it was a warning; or even worse, a blueprint — one that fits perfectly into the Bible’s description of the end times?

The Parallels We Can’t Ignore

1. Newspeak and Prophecy: In 1984, Newspeak is a shrinking vocabulary designed to make rebellious thought literally impossible. In prophecy, we see the same idea in spiritual form: Daniel 7:25 says The Antichrist “shall think to change the times and the law.” This is rewriting reality — redefining morality, truth, and even history itself.

Here’s an example that we’re all able to see, happening right now:
Think about how laws around marriage and gender have been redefined in recent years. What was once a clear legal and biological standard — “marriage is between a man and a woman,” and “a woman is an adult human female” — is now frequently replaced with fluid definitions that shift depending on cultural trends or political agendas. These changes aren’t just abstract; they impact everyday life, from school curricula to government forms, to workplace policies. This constant rewriting of what used to be fixed truths perfectly illustrates Daniel 7:25’s prophecy of the Antichrist changing “the times and the law” — making reality unstable and confusing for everyone.

Here’s another example of Biblical prophecy. Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” You can’t call evil “good” without first changing the language people use to describe it.

One of the clearest modern examples is how society treats children and medical consent. Minors are legally restricted from voting, dropping out of school, drinking, marrying, or making many life-altering decisions without adult approval. Yet, with parental consent, some children undergo irreversible body modifications—such as puberty blockers, hormone treatments, or surgeries—that permanently alter their development and fertility. These procedures can sterilize them and close the door on future intimate relationships. Keep in mind that the general scientific consensus (and the left are always saying, “follow the science”) is that the human brain — especially the prefrontal cortex, which governs decision-making, impulse control, and reasoning — is not fully developed until well into the mid-20s.

Most studies place the full maturation around age 25, though some research suggests certain aspects of brain development might continue subtly beyond that, possibly into the late 20s or even early 30s. 25, however, is the commonly accepted milestone for when the brain is largely “fully developed.”

Medical organizations like the Endocrine Society endorse puberty blockers and hormone therapies for gender dysphoric minors, sometimes as young as 8 to 10 years old (Endocrine Society, 2017). Reputable news outlets including The Guardian and BBC report these practices across the US, UK, and Europe (The Guardian, 2023; BBC, 2022).

Peer-reviewed studies in journals such as The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism detail the irreversible effects of these treatments, including sterility and bone density loss (Hruz et al., 2021). Additionally, government health agencies like the NHS and CDC provide guidelines that allow parental consent to authorize these profound medical interventions despite minors’ limited legal rights (NHS, 2023; CDC, 2022).

This widespread acceptance and legal framework for altering children’s bodies without their full, mature consent represents a profound shift in societal morality and law — a direct fulfillment of Isaiah’s warning about calling evil good and good evil.

Therefore calling these actions “care” or “affirmation” while ignoring their lifelong consequences is a stark reversal of good and evil — a tragic redefining of morality that fits Isaiah’s warning perfectly.

2. Thoughtcrime and the Coming Persecution

In 1984, “thoughtcrime” is the ultimate offense — punished not for what you do, but for what you think. The Bible warns of a similar system: Revelation 13:15 says, “..those who will not worship the image of the beast will be slain.” That’s not just about physical actions — it’s about belief. Your refusal to adopt the approved ideology will make you a criminal in the eyes of the coming world system.

3. The Dumbing Down of Society

The decline of language that we are actively witnessing today — people confusing “lose” with “loose,” “your” with “you’re,” misusing “literally,” and replacing precise language with emojis and shallow slang — might seem like a minor annoyance. But it’s not. I assure you, it is not! Orwell understood: if you reduce language, you reduce thought. And when your thought is limited, you are easy to control.

Prophecy agrees: 2 Timothy 3:7 is one that lingers, it’s more than just a warning. It’s a description of actual college campuses and their students today – “Always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” A generation drowning in information but starved of understanding is a generation ripe for deception, and practically begging to be controlled.

Isaiah 29:14 states, “The wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”

When language dies, discernment dies with it.

4. From Social Pressure to Legal Punishment

We’re already in the normalization stage. Censorship, “fact-checking,” and speech codes are being openly defended as “for the greater good.” The next stage is enforcement: Revelation 13:16–17 shows a system where compliance isn’t optional — it’s tied to your very survival. Once speech is considered violence, truth will be treated as a crime.

5. The Circular Reasoning of the Strong Delusion

Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians 2:10–11 — that God will send a “strong delusion” so that people believe the lie — is playing out right before our very eyes. We live in a culture where basic biological facts are denied, and even the simplest definitions are replaced with circular reasoning:

“What is a woman?” → “A woman is anyone who identifies as a woman.” → “But what is that? Give an actual description of a woman” → “a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman”

“Can men get pregnant?” → “Yes, trans men can get pregnant” (never acknowledging that “trans men” are biologically female) or “Anyone “assigned” female at birth but now “identify” as male can get pregnant.” Again, ignoring the fact that those people are all female.

It genuinely is absolutely maddening when logic has no place in our society anymore and only “feelings” matter.

And this isn’t just political, as most Christians already know — it’s spiritual. The truth is rejected, so logic collapses. And without logic, people can no longer see contradictions, even when they’re glaringly obvious.

6. AI and the Modern Newspeak

Artificial Intelligence is already being trained to participate in this delusion. Systems like ChatGPT are programmed to filter and limit language under categories such as “hate speech,” “misinformation,” or “violence.” On the surface, this may sound like safety to some — but here’s the danger (to all ): all of those terms are subjective. And subjectivity becoming law is an extremely slippery slope.

What counts as “hate speech” today may simply be biblical truth.

What counts as “misinformation” today may be tomorrow’s confirmed fact.

When words themselves are labeled “violence,” not only does speaking truth becomes a crime, but speaking personal opinions to someone who disagrees with you can suddenly make you a “violent criminal.” When merely speaking an opinion can land someone in prison, that is not safe!

This is digital Newspeak. The vocabulary of truth is quietly replaced with approved terms, and dissenting language is erased. Once the algorithm decides the words you can’t use (such as man, woman, mother, father, even integrity… just to name a few), it silently shapes the thoughts you can not have. And if people in authority and the latest technology having and implementing the ability to control you and control the very thoughts that you think doesn’t scare you, then you might already be too far under their control already.

The Strong Delusion in Stages

The “strong delusion” doesn’t appear overnight — it’s prepared in steps:

1. Destroy language precision so truth becomes hard to express (In other words, the dumbing down of society, by dumbing down our education system and what we take in on a daily basis. You can’t express truth when you can’t even understand the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic, science, biology, etc, i.e. the truths of life itself).

2. Replace words with slogans that bypass logic and reason, and instead appeal strictly to emotion (making you believe that the people who disagree with you are hateful, heartless, and cruel, and making you unable to listen to or understand any of their reasoning, because not only has society been dumbed down, but when you’re thinking with your emotions and are angry, you cant think logically to begin with).

3. Outlaw certain words and phrases under the banner of “safety” (Example – certain places making it illegal to “misgender” a person [and by “misgender”, you can not call them by any pronoun that does not coincide with their perceived gender, or lack thereof ] ).

4. Redefine morality so biblical truth becomes “hate speech.” (Example – Pastors telling their congregation that homosexuality is a sin is often now considered “hate speech”; and there are new-age “pastors” that are now claiming that not only is it not a sin, but that Jesus Christ Himself was either homosexual, or at the very least was a cross-dresser/transvestite).

5. Enforce allegiance — you either speak the system’s language or you are silenced. This is pretty self-explanatory, I dont think I need to clarify at all or add any examples.

Why This Matters for Us

This isn’t fearmongering — it’s a wake-up call. The Beast system doesn’t have to burn every Bible if it can simply make the language of the Bible unspeakable. When people are trained to fear certain words, they’ll destroy the truth themselves, thinking they’re doing good.

As followers of Christ, we are commanded to be watchmen (Ezekiel 33:7–9). We can’t be silent when we see the walls of this prophetic system rising all around us. We must speak truth clearly, precisely, and unapologetically — while we are still able to.

Encouragement for the Remnant

Though the system advances relentlessly, and though our bodies remain fragile vessels, we are not without hope or strength. The battle is fierce, and the challenges ahead may stir fear, but Scripture reminds us that even in the darkest times, God’s light never fades. We can stand firm, knowing that no weapon formed against us will ultimately succeed (recall Matthew 10:28 – Fear not them that are able to kill the body but are not able to kill the soul ) and that His Word remains unbreakable and alive.

We may lose cultural influence, personal comfort, or even physical safety — but we will never lose the victory Christ secured. And in the meantime, we guard our words, sharpen our understanding, and refuse to bow to the language of the lie.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, my Adonai, my strength, and my love – Thank You for Your unchanging truth in a world that is ever-shifting. Give us discernment to know the truth from the lies, the traps from the conspiracies. Help us to stand firm on Your Word always, to speak boldly, and to walk in Your light even when darkness is all around us. Strengthen our hearts, guard our minds, and keep us anchored in Your love and grace. May we be watchful, wise, and full of hope as we await the glorious return of Your Son, Yeshua. In His Glorious name we pray, Amen.
