•The Fault in Our Stones: Divine Prophecy at the East Gate•

7–11 minutes

Today’s Scriptures: Acts 1:9–12 • Ezekiel 43:1–4 • Zechariah 14:3–5

There are some days when you just don’t feel it.

When your head aches, your heart’s heavy, and even opening your Bible feels like lifting a stone.

That was me today. I told myself I’d take a little break — watch some YouTube, something light, maybe a bit of comedy — nothing deep, nothing heavy.

But God had other plans.

Before I could even decide what to watch, I saw a YouTube short on the screen. I thought, “Ok, I’ll watch this one short. One minute of Bible prophecy — and I do like prophecy, lol — and then I am going to watch something else. Heck, I might even watch something a little naughty, like some ‘Bob’s Burgers’ or something (lol).

I just wasn’t in the mood to devote my entire morning, and then my entire day and night, to God again.

So, for one minute I watched the fiery young(ish) pastor I like talking about the Mount of Olives, the East Gate, and the fault line that runs straight through the place where Yeshua (Christ Jesus) will one day return.

And just like that, one short minute and my heart was awake again — excitement all over my face as tears welled in my eyes over this new revelation.

Because our God… He doesn’t need a thunderclap to get our attention, to lift our souls.

Sometimes He just whispers through a short video and says,

“I see you, Sunday. I know you’re tired. I know you’re running on empty. Let Me fill you back up again.”

And that’s all it takes. Just like that, you’re up and running once again, straight to the arms of the Father.

☩ The Place He Left — The Place He’ll Return ☩

In the book of Acts, chapter 1, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives. As the disciples watched Him rise, two angels said,

“This same Jesus… will come back in the same way you saw Him go.”

That mountain — east of Jerusalem, facing the Temple Mount — has always been more than just stone and soil. It has been the stage of sacred moments. It was on that slope that Yeshua wept over Jerusalem, His heart breaking for the people who would reject Him.

It was there, in the Garden of Gethsemane, that He prayed until His sweat became blood.

It was there that His feet last touched the earth before He ascended into the heavens.

And it is there that His feet will touch down again — on that same mountain, in that same place.

It was the place of His ascension, and it will be the place of His descention as well.

(Yeah yeah, I know ‘descention’ isnt formally a proper word, but Im using it here anyway, lol! Lyrically, it just sounds more *poetic* than ‘descent’, so just go with it, lol)

The Mount of Olives cradled His sorrow once… but it will soon quake with His all-mighty glory. The very ground that felt His tears will soon feel His triumph. And the sky that received Him will one day split open to reveal Him.

Every prophecy points back to that ridge of rock — because from there, Heaven met Earth once before… and it will again.

☩ The Shut Gate ☩

In Ezekiel 43, the prophet saw the glory of God entering the Temple from the east. That “east gate,” called the Golden Gate, still stands to this very day — but now, today, it’s sealed shut.

In 1517, a sultan by the name of Suleiman the Magnificent conquered Jerusalem and, out of fear of the Jewish Messiah’s return, ordered the gate bricked up. He even placed a Muslim cemetery before it, thinking no holy man would pass through a cemetery.

Ohhh silly sultan.

Didn’t he know that brick walls and cemeteries can’t prevent prophecy from coming true??

The logic of it genuinely is quite humorous when you think about it!

The way he tried to stop the Creator of the universe was by himself creating (or rather, simply building up) a brick wall.

Are you truly comprehending the absurdity here??

He tried to stop the Creator of all things, the One who created him, by using bricks that the Creator created all the material for and all the humans that made those bricks, to build a wall upon the ground that the Creator had also created, to stop the Creators will!

It’s so nonsensical that it’s hilarious!

☩ The Splitting Mountain ☩

Zechariah 14 foretells that when the Messiah returns,

“His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives… and the mountain shall split in two, from east to west.”

Centuries passed, and no one thought much of that verse beyond poetic imagery — until 1964.

In 1964, A few wealthy men decided that they wanted to build a hotel right on top of the Mount of Olives.

Before construction could begin, however, they were required to have a geological survey done — it’s routine procedure. As I sometimes like to say, “dems da rules.”

But when scientists began testing the ground, they discovered something extraordinary.

Beneath the mountain ran a massive fault line — an east-to-west fracture stretching directly from the summit of the Mount of Olives straight toward the sealed East Gate. And though I couldn’t find a precise quantifiable length for the fault line, we do know that this fracture runs directly along the path that Zechariah described.

When the Lord’s feet touch the Mount, that fault will be the very place that the earth gives way — the earth will shake, the ground will split, and the gate will crumble — exactly as foretold in the Holy Word of God.

Another aspect about this I find astonishing is that the only reason we even know it exists today is because those men wanted a hotel with a glorious view.

But God took their plans for profit and turned them into proof of prophecy.

He stopped the hotel from ever being built — and in the process, revealed that He had already prepared a path, right beneath the very stones that a sultan once bricked up and sealed shut.

Of course, Sultan Suleiman never knew about the fault line that lay beneath the ground itself, beneath that East Gate he feared so greatly.

Nor did the builders know when they planned out their dreams of a luxury hotel.

No one knew.

No one but God. God knew.

God wrote the pathway before hands of man ever bricked the gate.

God laid the fault line before anyone thought to measure the ground.

And in one breathtaking move, God blocked man’s plans and unveiled His own — the perfect passage for His returning Son to triumphantly walk right through.

That fault line isn’t coincidence — it’s divine choreography.

When the Lord’s feet touch the Mount of Olives, just as Zechariah 14:4 prophesied, the earth will quake beneath His glory; the mountain will split, the ancient stones will crumble, and the bricked-up gate that man tried to seal off will fall away like dust in the wind.

(Or, as a friend of mine likes to say, like a fart in the wind; but that’s not exactly poetic, or glorious sounding, is it?? I mean, call me crazy, but it just doesn’t sound very Christ-like to my ears. A little funny maybe, just not exactly ‘prophetically lyrical’, if you will, lol.

But, continuing on…. )

The way will open, and Christ — the eternal King of Glory — will walk through the valley and enter Jerusalem, just as the angels said He would.

What man bricked shut, God Himself will break open.

Because you can’t brick out God, no matter how hard you try.

Ignore Him, fear Him, make plans to rise up against Him — it doesn’t matter, you’ll always lose.

Because He’s the Alpha and the Omega.

He’s the I AM.

He is the Creator of all things, the Lover of our souls, our Lord and Redeemer. The demons tremble when they hear His Name, the winds and the waves obey Him.

He is the Heavyweight Champion of the world, the Victorious Winner of all — then, now, and forevermore.

☩ The Personal Gate ☩

Thinking about all of this — the mountain, the survey, the fault line — it hit me:

This isn’t just about geography.

It’s about hearts.

And it’s about eternity.

There are mornings, like today, when I’m the East Gate — shut up, tired, heavy, sealed behind excuses or pain.

But Yeshua still finds a way.

He slips through the cracks, speaks through a video, a verse, a whisper — and suddenly the stones begin to tremble, they begin to crumble, one by one, until  hearts are open and exposed once again.

The same God who placed that fault line beneath the Mount of Olives placed one beneath our hearts as well.

So when the weight of life tries to seal us in, His glory shakes the ground and breaks open the barriers.

Nothing can keep Him out — not the grave, not a gate, not even your bad day or my bad attitude.

☩ God Makes a Way ☩

When Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent stacked those stones, God very well may have sat back, arms folded, legs kicked up, laughing heartily; because He knew that in that exact place, He had already prepared for this.

He had already made a way.

Because He always makes a way.

Past, present, or future, He knows, and He provides the way through.

He wrote it into the landscape, into history, into creation itself — even into you and me.

So if you’re feeling bricked in today — tired, closed off, not quite “feeling it” — remember:

The same God who will split a mountain to fulfill His promise can split your silence, your sadness, your negativity, whatever it is inside of you, to fill you with His presence.

You can’t stop prophecy.

You can’t stop His love.

You can’t stop the King from coming through.

Because brick by brick, He will tear down those barriers to save those that have called upon Him.

He’s coming back — just as He said He would. The same Savior who once wept over Jerusalem is returning to reign from it.

And every stone that defied Him will bend.

Every tongue will confess.

Every knee will bow.

And every prophecy will find its Amen in Him.

Amen, amen, and amen.
