•The Patience of the Bound•

4–6 minutes

The dream I’m about to share is one I believe the Lord gave me – and though I interpreted one meaning from the dream, I believe I would greatly benefit from hearing others interpretations of it as well.

I am sharing it here for three reasons: first, because it was so vivid and felt so real that it’s stayed with me, as some dreams tend to do, even though some time has now passed; second, because most people in my life aren’t very open to hearing about things like this, and I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on what God might be saying; and third, because I want to encourage you to keep your own eyes, ears, and heart open to the ways God may be speaking to you – even through dreams. And though the dream I am sharing is a bit long, I believe it is worth the read. I hope you do as well.

And so, with all that said, the dreams begins….

The Euphrates River was drying up, just as in real life, and just as Scripture recorded would happen. And in my dream, I could see below the surface of the dry desert floor.

I was standing at the once great river, and just like the videos you can find online, strange & eerie noises could be heard spewing forth from the holes within the dried earth. Was it just wind pushing itself through hidden caves beneath the ground? Or was it the four fallen angels that Scripture says are chained beneath the Euphrates, getting more and more angry as they slowly go insane waiting for the river to fully dry up, so they can finally be unleashed to wreak havoc upon this world once again.

In the dream, I watched as someone stood upon the dried riverbed, hearing the sounds eminating from below. She started talking to the noises, prophecying to the sounds she heard, as if she knew what was beneath the earth yet still held out hope that it could be saved.

“Share the word, Disciple of Christ”, she bellowed faithfully. Below, a fallen angel stirred. It had already torn the chains that had held it prisoner from the walls of the earth, dragging them behind as it paced angrily, searching for a hole it could now rip open to reach its long-awaited freedom.

Yet the earth above was as strong as the steel chains that had, until recently, held it bound to its dark & dirty imprisonment; and therefore, despite its talon-like claws, simply digging was not enough for escape.

As more people came and looked at the holes upon the almost completely dried up river bed, the fallen angel, now grotesque, his heavenly features lost long ago, hid between cracks unseen from the holes above.

He knew that if someone were to see him, that they would flee; flee and seek help, & possibly try to block any escape route he may finally be close to having. So he hid his horrendous blood-red face, marked by bulbous boils, pitted pockmarks and never-healing scabs, dry and crusty in some spots and wet with pus in others. His eyes were as dark as the imprisonment he’s faced for thousands upon thousands upon thousands of years; and, as cliche as it sounds, a set of horns sat high atop his forehead.

His freedom is close. He can finally feel fresh air upon his dry skin, can finally see sunlight shining through the holes in the ground for the first time in ages, so bright it’s almost blinding. His mind has cracked, but he holds together just enough sanity & reason to stay hidden amongst the darkness & the shadows…

A long yellow school bus can be seen through the newly discovered “prison windows” … He can nearly taste the merriment of the chaos he will create, the utter destruction he will bring forth to all humans, man, woman, and child alike.

His eyes glowed half yellow, half red, full of barely held back excitement as he says to himself menacingly, his voice deep, dry, and gravelly, “Almost there… Patience, patience…. Remain in the shadows just a little while longer…”

Scripture:

“The voice said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, ‘Release the four angels who are bound to great river Euphrates.’” ~Revelation 9:14

“The four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.” ~Revelation 9:15

“The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.” ~Revelation 16:12

To me, this dream serves as a vivid reminder of prophecy unfolding and of the unseen forces – the principalities and powers – at work all around us, even beneath the surface. We are living in a time when events foretold thousands of years ago are beginning to take shape before our very eyes. The drying of the Euphrates is not merely a physical phenomenon but a spiritual signal of what is yet to come. And yet, even as darkness prepares to emerge, the call to God’s people remains the same: to stand firm, to proclaim His Word – even, and especially, to our enemies – and to hold fast to the hope that His plan is sovereign and His timing perfect.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this dream – what do you see in this dream, and what do you feel the Lord might be revealing through it? I grow best with the help of my brothers and sisters in Christ, learning from their insights and understandings, so that where my vision may fall short, yours may help me see what I might have missed.

Grace and peace be with you, my brothers and sisters; and may we walk boldly together in the light of His truth always.
